We’re at the start of another new year and this is the part where I say ‘Where did that year go?’. Yes, although it may be hard to believe, 2014 is now just a thing of the past and with that, I thought I would do a little recap on 5 beauty products that I constantly had to hand throughout the year.
1. Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara
I have been loving this mascara from Estee Lauder so much. As someone who doesn’t really have the longest set of eyelashes naturally (thanks Mam and Dad!) I have always found mascaras to be a bit of a faff and they never seemed to make much difference in the overall lenght and thickness of my lashes. Sumputuous Extreme mascara is in a league of it’s own when it comes to adding volume to my lashes. I love how the brush is your classic bristle brush rather than the usual plastic comb you find on most mascaras and I also love how big the brush is. I use this in shade 01 Extreme black.
2. Mac Lipstick in Heroine
Words can’t describe how much I love this lipstick. Heroine really only came into the spotlight during 2014 and as soon as I laid my eyes on it, I knew I had to have it. This lipstick is so bright and vibrant that you really have to be confident in pulling it off. In the bullet, this lipstick appears a dark purple but when swatched on the hand, Heroine almost looks like a deep magenta with a mix of purple tones. Depending on what colour your natural lips are, I think this lipstick will look different on everyone but that’s what makes it such a beautiful shade. It stays put on the lips for hours and makes even the plainest of outfits stand out from the crowd.
3. Garnier Cleansing Micellar Water
It wasn’t long after all the hype about Bioderma had died down that Beauty bloggers everywhere were raving about the next big thing – Garniers very own version of the popular Micellar water. I love this stuff! I am currently on my third bottle of this since discovering it during the Summer. It’s cheap and cheerful and best of all, it does a brilliant job at removing my make-up (and even heavy eyeliner). Not only is it very gentle on even sensitive skin, the bottle contains 400ml of product so a little of this goes a long way!
4. Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan in Dark
I have been using this false tan since it came onto the market and I can honestly say it is by far my favourite tan. When they announced the release of the new Dark shade I knew I would love it. My pale Irish skin barely picks up the sun, even during the Summer months so for me, this product has been a life saver all year round. The mouse formula is also great if you’re new to false tanning and you’re a little nervous about looking streaky. Everything looks better with a tan!
5. Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
When I first tried out this foundation I remember not liking it very much. I stored it away in my drawer for a while, only to make it re-appear after running out of my usual studio fix fluid. It is now safe to say, I LOVE this foundation. This consistency of it is perfect, not too runny and not too thick which makes it a dream to blend out. I also love how it just gives my skin a healthy sheen, not like a greasy face sort-of sheen but a nice little glow that even peeps through if you set it with powder. I have lost count of the amount of bottles of this stuff I bought throughout 2014 and I will continue to have it as one of my make-up bag staples.
